In plain words
- Spectriq is for entertainment. Its results are not a medical, psychological, clinical, educational or scientific assessment.
- Don't use a result to diagnose anyone or to make decisions about health, schooling, a job or anything else that matters.
- The app is free in this version and shows no ads.
Spectriq is made by NG Hive LLC, an independent studio in the United States. By using the app you agree to these terms. If you disagree, please don't use it. Questions: [email protected].
What the app is
Spectriq is a collection of puzzles — patterns, 3D blocks, memory sequences and speed tasks — with a playful summary of how you did compared with other people your age. The puzzles are generated by the app; the comparison tables are put together from figures published in open scientific sources and, over time, from results that users choose to share anonymously.
Entertainment only — not an assessment
Although Spectriq draws on published research, it is offered for entertainment and general interest only. In particular:
- It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, screen for, monitor or treat any condition — including conditions affecting memory, attention, learning or development.
- It is not a psychological or clinical intelligence test, has not been clinically validated, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a version of any professional test or its publisher.
- It is not a scientific instrument. Its results are not suitable for research, admissions, hiring, legal or any other official purpose.
- Any IQ-style figure the app shows is a rough, playful estimate given as a range. Results can change with tiredness, mood, distraction, the phone you use and practice.
If you are worried about your own or anyone else's memory, attention, learning or development, please talk to a qualified professional. Don't delay or replace professional advice because of something the app shows.
Who can use it
- The main part of the app is intended for people aged 16 and over.
- The children's mode (ages 8–15) is for a parent or guardian to use with their own child, on the parent's phone. The adult is responsible for the child's use of the app and for how the result is talked about with the child — please keep it light and encouraging.
Price
Spectriq is free in this version, with no in-app purchases and no ads. If that changes in a future version, the store listing, these terms and the Privacy Policy will say so before it happens.
Your data
Results stay on your phone unless you choose to share them anonymously. What is sent, why and how to delete it is described in the Privacy Policy. By switching sharing on, you allow us to use those anonymous results to calculate and improve the app's norms and to publish aggregate statistics that identify no one.
Fair play
Please don't try to break, reverse-engineer or overload the service, and don't send fake results on purpose — they make the norms worse for everyone. We may ignore or delete results that look automated or deliberately misleading.
Our content
The app, its puzzles, design, texts and recordings belong to NG Hive LLC. You may use the app for your own personal, non-commercial purposes and share the result cards it creates. Please don't copy the puzzles or resell the app's content.
What we do not promise
- The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work to make it accurate and fair, but we don't promise any result is correct, complete or meaningful for a particular purpose.
- To the extent the law allows, NG Hive LLC is not liable for any decision made, or harm suffered, on the basis of a result shown by the app, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app.
Changes
Spectriq is still being built and these terms will change with it. The date at the top shows when they last did, and anything important will be pointed out in the app.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where the consumer-protection law of your own country requires otherwise.
